TRIBUTE TO RONALD REAGAN

HINTS ON SPIRITUAL UNFOLDMENT

TO RETURN TO MAIN PAGE

How many people in the world have hidden talents and never find out until something happens in their lives. An accident, an illness or just too busy. I want to introduce you to my husband John Powe. All his life he worked and never really relaxed. Then Heart attacks brought him to being disabled. At first he became very depressed and bored. But then a new beginning. He found he could do abstract drawing and his work is excellent and then at night when he found it hard to sleep he would put his feelings into poetry. I would like you to read some of his poems. I do hope you like them.

This is the work of John Powe. Please respect his copyright and do not use or copy without permission. You can write to John through my e-mail address. John Powe PLEASE PUT IN TITLE JOHN POEM.

TRIBUTE

Sitting here on this cold damp stone
Feeling sorry, lost and forlorn.

In between here and there,
No where to go, don't really care.

Crying as the rain falls down.
Watching as the earth is thrown.
Inch by inch, foot by foot.
Covering the hole, covering the root.

It seems like only yesterday
When God came and took you away.
You're one of a kind, like no other.
For as long as I live, you will always be -
My Brother.

The rain falls gently on the earth.
Parched desert buds give birth.
Multicoloured blooms across the land.
And it's all thanks to Mother Nature's hand.

NEVER LOOKING BACK

Footprints in the sand.
Walking hand in hand.
Always looking forward
Never looking back.

Clouds in the sky
Gently blowing by.
Caressing mountain tops
And shepherds watching their flocks.

Sun beating down
Tanning all round.
Children playing games
Calling out names.

Rain gently falling
Children mother's calling
Hearing sounds of laughter
Making life seem softer.

TO BE FREE

"Soldier, soldier, have you come to set us free?
Soldier, soldier, why do you point a gun at me?"
Tyranny was our crime, democracy our hope.
Yet instead of trying to save us, you bring along a rope.

The rope you use on everyone you see.
You can't distinguish between friend and enemy.
Your fear is there for all to behold.
After all you're only doing what you've been told.

Until your fear relaxes it's hold.
Common sense will make you bold.
Bold enough for you to see
The difference between friend and enemy.

Once we have found this common ground.
The people as one voice will resound.
"We are free! We are free!
Free from this yoke of tyranny."

Free to think, free to chose.
Free to do as we please.
All of this is done for me.
By the friends and allies across the sea.

KNOWING SOME DAY

Joy, tears, grief and sorrow, these are things we'll meet tomorrow.
Laughter and fond memories of loved ones past.
Tears and frustration because of what's lost.
Grief and sorrow that we have to bare.
Joy in knowing that some day I'll be there.
Happy in Heaven with God at your side.
Romping away like an ebb tide.
Be happy, enjoy yourself without a care.
No more pain, no more sadness, nothing but a easy chair.
So think of me when you're up there.
Flirting with angels, combing your hair.
I love you for ever and a day.
With God's help, we'll be together,I pray.

SITTING ON A CLOUD

Into the wide blue yonder
Sitting on a cloud I did ponder.
Is this all there is to life.
Getting married, children and a wife.
Then again I had a thought.
It could be worse.
I could have been enslaved and bought.
Ripped from loving arms into a life with chains.
No father or mother to ease all my pains.
Working the fields from dusk till dawn.
No real place I could call my home.
From a boy to a man in a short space of time.
Getting whipped if I step out of line.
Age is creeping up, eyesight getting dim.
Won't belong before I'm seeing Him.
Well that's what I was thinking while sitting on the cloud.
That this life is not so bad, I should be proud.
I've got a daughter and wife who are the best for me.
That is all I've got to say, I'm just happy to be free.

THE WORD

Take my hand and walk with me.
Across the oceans, across the sea.
Take my word and spread it wide.
Spread it to every man, woman and child.
Spread it high, spread it low
Spread the word where ever you go.
Don't be afraid, don't lose your way.
Belief in the word will save you some day.

When you're sleeping in your bed.
Thoughts and dreams running through your head.
Some are good, some are bad.
Some make you happy, some make you sad.
But in the morning as you awake.
Sunlight caressing your face and neck.
Opening your eyes you are glad to see.
Your parents looking after thee.

The glow of saffron on my face.
My cool air, my state of grace.
Knowing nothing, knowing my place.
This is just another day.
For you, you would say
But for me it's a reprieve.
Another day that I can breathe.
Breathe the air you take for granted.
Smelling flowers that are newly planted.
These are the things I look out for.
Instead of in a bed by the back door.

DO YOU FEEL? DO YOU SEE?

Do you feel?
  Do you see?
Do you care?   Are you free?
Will you win?   Will you lose?
Can you obey?   Can you chose?
It is dark.   It is light.
Today the dawn.   Later the night.
Passing of clouds.   Pouring of rain.
Washing our cares.   Down the drain.
Full of joy.   Full of life.
Having a child.   Having a wife.
Being so good.   Being so sad.
Are you happy?   Are you bad?
Will you lie?   Will you live?
Do you take?   Do you give?
Are you wild?   Are you tame?
Will you play?   Are you game?
Say you won't.   Say you will.
Walk the path.   Climb the hill.
Be like Adam.   Be like Eve.
Will you stay?   Will you leave?
Love yourself.   Love another.
Love your sister.   Love your brother.
Love your children.   Love your wife.
Love of people.   Love of life.
Can you feel?   Can you see?
