Christmas comes but once a year.
And with it comes many a good cheer.
Whisky, gin, brandy, whatever is your choice.
And! It certainly can help you sing, in a very good voice.

Christmas brings a time to be happy and gay.
Eat all those naughty but nice things of the tray.
A time not to worry about the few pounds you gain.
Your new year's resolution will soon end that pain.

The horrible present Aunt Maud gave you with love.
Well! Not to worry, the Church fete next year, tough!
The presents you gave, you hope you did right.
Now! You picking it from the Church fete, wouldn't that be a fright.

Christmas has changed over the years so much.
Today, children hang up pillowcases as such.
When young, mam's nylon stocking, I hung bottom of my bed.
Sure hope it was clean, otherwise with the goodies stuffed inside,
My face would have turned red.

At Christmas time, we can relax and let down our hair.
Dress up, be silly, or even show how we care.
So lift up your glass and give a good cheer.
Thank you Dear Lord, for the blessings this year.
