THE BREAKING OF A NEW DAY

As I entered the church I sat down and began to pray
I heard a voice say to me, "What brings you here today?
Why is your heart so happy and filled with glee"?
I came here to thank You Lord for the gifts You've given me.

I thought about the talents, my voice and my song
Then there was the music to which I'd danced along
Of course there was something that told me what to write
Keeping me up all day, and sometimes through the night

I wanted to thank You Lord for the friends You've sent my way
The many who stuck by me when I was having a bad day
To those that were now my "family", for though I never knew
That these sweet, dear folks could bring me yet closer to You

The music of the birds as they bring in the dawn's light
As I sit on my porch watching the end of the night
All these gifts God You gave me all the while
I just had to come to Your house so you could see me smile
