This poem was written by Ali to help in some way to forgive her ex-husband.
It is good if we can forgive but so many just can not do this. Ali is a special person.

It seemed like only yesterday that you took away my dream
Of the perfect little family that I thought it would seem
Two little baby boys we had; conceived in love
As God watched down upon us from His throne above

We had so many years of joy and sunny days of fun
Then you changed; your drinking had begun
You couldn't take the pressure and instead instilled the pain
Only for us to run and hide; the beatings started again

Our children were my protectors, and I was theirs as well
You never knew what you were doing; putting us through hell
Soon I decided it was time for us to pack up and leave
In your troubled times alone you could grieve

I returned once again, and with our children intact
I said I wanted a divorce; my bravest small act
I never wanted this, but I knew it in my heart
The best thing for all us was to finally become apart
